Challenge

AIA Insurance wanted to modernise its advisor portal to keep pace with competitors and improve the experience for both advisors and clients. The existing portal was outdated, hard to use, and missing many of the features that rival insurers already offered. Insurance advisors often had to rely on manual processes or external tools, such as calling AIA underwriters directly, to get their work done.

The business needed a new vision for the portal that would boost efficiency, improve client interactions, and re-establish AIA as a leader in the market.

We collaborated with advisors over several weeks, running workshops and interviews to understand their needs and pain points. Working closely with a business analyst and stakeholders across the company, we mapped out user flows and explored new ways the portal could serve as both a management tool and a client-facing platform.

From early hand-drawn sketches, we moved into wireframes and then developed high-fidelity interactive prototypes using Axure. These prototypes were tested directly with advisors, whose feedback shaped refinements to client management and the policy builder experience. The policy builder became the most impactful feature, transforming policy creation into a visual tool that advisors could use in real time with clients to explain and configure coverage.

To communicate the vision clearly, we presented the concept and user journeys to senior stakeholders, showing not just the redesigned features but how the entire advisor journey could be improved.
